Art Classes and Workshops Spring and Summer 2016

The following classes and workshops will be held

Kids Classes and Workshops

Kids Drawing Classes ages 10-17yrs
Supplies provided.
Using pencil, charcoal, conte, and pen we will be
using different techniques to create interesting and
dynamic works of art. There will be a heavy focus
on light and shadows through the exploration of
shading, crosshatching, and line weight.

Kids Painting Classes ages 10-17yrs
Supplies provided.
We will spend 1/3 classes exploring watercolor,
1/3classes on acrylic, and 1/3classes on oil paint
(with no solvents). We will learn different
techniques and the elements of design while looking
at different types of subject matter.

PD Day Kids Craft ages 2-7yrs
Create 2 decorative candle holders while learning
about color theory.
Parents welcome. Supplies provided.

PD Day Kids Paint Afternoon ages 8-14yrs
Create a painting based on Van Gogh’s Starry
Night. We will learn about color, brushstrokes,
and art history. Supplies Provided.
May 20th 2-3pm $15.00

Kids Craft Mornings ages 2-10yrs old
Get creative! Learn concepts of art and design
through play! Each Saturday we will create a
different craft projects TBA. Parents and
families welcome. A great inspiring way to
break up the summer.
Supplies provided.

Mother’s Day Weekend Floral Oil Painting Workshop
Saturday May 7th 10am-4pm
Open to all skill levels and ages.
Bring your mom or loving supporter, friend,
partner, or family member to celebrate
mothers day weekend with a workshop that
inspires creative growth while oil painting
fresh cut flowers. This workshop is all about
color and brush strokes. We start with looking
at inspiring paintings and dive in with lots of
one on one instruction.

Father’s Day Weekend The Personal Sketchbook
Workshop
Saturday June 18th 12-3pm
An afternoon for all ages as we explore several ways
to creatively use a sketchbook that reflects you and
your life. How to capture what’s going on around
you or to creatively record your ideas. We will be
using pencil, watercolor, and pen. We will be
looking at other artists sketchbooks for ideas and
inspiration.
Bring your own supplies or have supplies provided
for $20.00.

Adults Classes and Workshops

Expanding Painting Practice
In your choice of oil, acrylic, watercolor, or gouache
we will be exploring different subject matter and
genres of painting which will push us to learn new
techniques. This class is open to all skill levels, this
is a great way to explore painting whether you’re
new to painting or to build on already existing skills
of an intermediate or professional level. Supplies
required.

Drawing: Making It Look Real
Great for beginners and intermediate skill levels. We
will explore different drawing techniques with the
goal of being able to draw the world around us.
There will be strong emphasis on shading, texture,
and composition.

Painting or Drawing from Photos Workshop
Saturday July 23rd 12-3pm $40.00
Bring in 5 to 10 of your photo images either
professionally printed (must be on photo paper) or
on a tablet and we will go through what to look for
in reference material and how to use reference
material to get across your ideas. This is open to all
subject matter from figurative, landscape, cityscape,
still life, even abstract. We will then start on one
painting/drawing using the medium of our choice.
Open to all skill levels. A great way to get an
artwork practice going. Supplies required.

Adults Paint Night Cityscape in Acrylics
Friday July 29th 6-9pm
We will be working from images of night time
cityscapes to create dramatic paintings. A great
beginners painting class. Similar to paint from
photos.

Portrait Painting Workshop
Saturday May 14th 10am-4pm
$70.00 (this includes model fee)
We will be working from live clothed models with a
focus on creating likeness. We will cover facial
anatomy and discovering the subtleties that describe
a persons individuality and personality. We will also
learn about light and shadow, painting hair, and
clothing. This workshop goes well with the previous
nights free portrait painting demo by Daphne. Get
inspired and the next day get your brushes wet. All
skill levels welcome.Supplies Required either oil
paint or acrylic.

Figure Drawing Workshop
Working in charcoal from a live model we will
discover the nuances and magnificence of the
human form. We will practice measuring and
proportion, how to create volume,
understanding anatomy, along with expressive
mark making.

Art in the Park
Plein Aire painting outside at Rotary Park in
Stony Plain. Using your choice of either
acrylic, oil, watercolor, or gouache we will be
painting the beautiful park around us. There
will be a heavy focus on color.
Supplies required including easel.
